A Good First Step

I hear more and more conversation about how we must do something about all the racism we are starting to recognize throughout society.  It seems like everywhere we turn we are finding more and more examples of systemic racism and let me just say that everywhere we have yet to look we will certainly find more systemic racism.  It is out there and it is by the design of our ancestors.  The question is, what will we do about it?

Allow me to offer an idea.  Let’s ask ourselves a question that has not been asked.  When we consider all the examples of systemic racism we have discovered so far, were they all UNCONSTITUTIONAL?  If our answer is ABLOLUTELY YES, then we have clear starting points for Legislation to correct the problems we have already found.  If ABLOLUTELY YES was not our clear and unqualified answer, the starting point for our corrective actions is even clearer.  We must admit that our Constitution is the single point of origin for everything that happens in our republican democracy and therefore, if it does not explicitly enough prohibit systemic racism, we must amend it.

How about an amendment to our Constitution that clearly and simply states:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.  — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

These words hold a prominent place in our white history and they should be made to hold a legally and equally prominent place in the history of all of our people here in the United States of America.  We must amend our Constitution to concisely tell us that we hold these truths to be self-evident that all people in the United States of America are created equal and shall equally enjoy all the privileges and immunities of our society – NO EXCEPTIONS.

If it could be done, I would be really really happy if the ratification could be by popular vote.

  1. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism
    or copyright infringement? My blog has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it looks like a
    lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement.
    Do you know any ways to help protect against content from being stolen? I’d truly appreciate it.

    1. Consider the content you are sharing on your blog and why you are posting it in the first place. If you don’t want others to read it and think about it and use it, why did you post it?

  2. The next time I read a blog, Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint
    me just as much as this one. I mean, Yes, it was my choice to read through,
    nonetheless I actually believed you would probably have something helpful to talk
    about. All I hear is a bunch of complaining about something you can fix if you weren’t too busy searching for attention.

    1. I just reread my post and I stand by every word. Perhaps you could be more specific with your complaint. Are you thinking that systemic racism does not exist? Let’s dig a little deeper together.
