Why I Blog

Over the past few days I have received hundreds of comments relating to several of my blog posts.  At first I was amazed and flattered by the interest being shown to my work, but as I reviewed the comments in pursuit of those worthy of posting on their own merit I discovered that most were lacking depth and relativity to the basic topic of my posting.  I cannot imagine the motivation behind many of the comments, but some don’t seem to have an origin to be found anywhere in the post on which they are supposedly premised.

My blog goal is to start and nurture conversation on topics of the time.  I do not want comments that are only in agreement.  No, I am searching for pros and cons on each topic that will elicit thoughts from others.  I do expect commenters to show respect for the thoughts of others whether they agree or disagree.  I would be happy to have others add new facts to the conversation.  At the bottom line I am seeking a conversation.

This is an American conversation and as such it should be characterized by opinions and facts that are relevant to the underlying topic.  Minds will be changed in some cases and not in others, but civility and respect will always be shown to the thoughts of others.  We are all learning because none of us knows everything and we will all be smarter for our participation in this important American conversation.

The Sausage Grinder is Broken, will you help to fix it?  If you haven’t read A Broken Sausage Grinder; Is Our Government Fundamentally Flawed?, you’re not prepared for the job.
