We’ve had quite a few incidents of unarmed persons being killed at the hands of police officers in the past year. The most recent case is in Pasco Washington and there is a cell phone video recording of the final moments of the confrontation.
Once again, law enforcement people can be heard taking up the stance that the dead person was threatening the officers and resisting arrest and that is why he was shot. Let’s take that at face value and ask two questions:
- When did resisting arrest while unarmed become punishable by death?
- When did the police get the authority to punish a law breaker before he is found guilty by a jury of his peers?
I must have missed it.
