I have heard our President say on several occasions that we have bigger numbers of cases because we are doing more testing. I don’t think he really believes that getting the test will actually give you the covid-19 virus, but that is surely what his words are saying. If he is intending for us to hear his words and believe that he wants us to think that being tested causes the covid-19 virus infection than he must also think that we are stupid.
The coronavirus is a traveler of opportunity and it will hitch a ride wherever it can find a willing vehicle. We are all potential vehicles and we demonstrate our willingness to pick up the hitchhiker by leaving our mask off or not washing our hands often, or not practicing social distancing. If the coronavirus chooses one of us as a vehicle of opportunity, it might very well decide to wreak havoc on some of our power train components before moving on. In the extreme, it might decide to totally destroy some of our vital organs and kill us.
The coronavirus does what it does and goes where it goes without concern about testing. The only thing testing does is tell us where the hitchhikers are so that we can wave them into quarantine and prevent them from continuing their travels. We can’t quarantine what we can’t find so testing is the only way to limit the spread without quarantining everyone. The “stay at home” orders were as close to quarantining everyone that we could get so that reference gives us some clues about how testing could help us.
There is no other way to say it, our President and many in his administration are risking our lives by spreading their political disinformation. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a practical way of holding them accountable for what appears to be attempted manslaughter.
