Enough!

I have tried to keep my comments, on current affairs, in the middle of the political aisle, but recent events are not all political – many are better described within the context of terrorism.  I think it is time for me to strip off all the varnish and call it like I see it.  Our former president, Donald Trump, has strayed outside the bounds of morality by any definition we might choose.  He has demonstrated himself to be a holder of prejudicial thoughts beyond the imagination of any decent human being.  His behavior seems more like a foreign agent trying to destroy our United States of America than it does a simple, self-centered narcissist, that some media personalities want to ascribe to him.  I see his conduct as that of a self-centered, white supremacist and he is leading the Republican Party to the same prejudicial outcomes.  By his actions, he has effectively declared war on our United States of America and has given aid and comfort to Vladimir Putin in his capacity as the leader of Russia and the leader of the Russian offensive against Ukraine.  He is a traitor, and he should be tried for Treason.  If he is found guilty, he should be publicly punished to the maximum extent of the law.  We must demonstrate that no one, no one, is above the law.  As for the Republican Party, their silence testifies to their own immorality and un-American ideologies, and the media seems incapable of properly identifying their shortcomings and holding them to account for their wrongdoing.

I don’t know who said that “justice delayed, is justice denied,” but I think the current delay since January 6, 2021, in our judicial system, is more than sufficient to qualify as a denial of justice in any public context.  Our Attorney General and our Department of Justice have both let us down.  As I see it, the only way we can get our country back is to engage freely in conversation with our neighbors, our friends, our relatives, and anyone else who will join the conversation.  Some of our opinions will gain the support of others and some will not, but this is the only way I can see for us to hold onto our republican democracy.  We the people must demonstrate that our republican democracy is more important than political power or political party.
